How guests cast to a Samsung hotel TV

Casting from a phone is now one of the most requested in-room features. On Samsung hospitality TVs it is delivered through a Google Cast built-in deployment, which needs the right network design to work reliably.

How hotel casting differs from home casting

At home, phone and TV sit on the same flat network and discover each other automatically. Hotel networks isolate guests from one another for security, which blocks that discovery. Hospitality casting solves this by pairing a guest device to one specific room TV, usually with an on-screen PIN or room code.

What you need to install

A working guest casting experience is a combination of TV, licence and network.

  • Samsung hospitality TVs with Google Cast built-in support
  • Lynk Cloud licence plus the Google Cast installation package
  • Wireless network with per-room device isolation and pairing support
  • A visible on-screen prompt so guests know casting is available

Why casting usually fails

In our deployments the cause is almost always the network, not the television.

  • Client isolation on the guest SSID with no casting exception
  • Phone on cellular data instead of the guest Wi-Fi
  • Multicast/mDNS blocked between access points
  • Sessions never cleared, so the TV still shows a previous guest's device

Session hygiene between guests

Pairings should expire at check-out or after a set idle period. Linking the TVs to the property management system means the room reset happens automatically the moment the guest checks out.
